At Your (Real Estate) Service
“I was born in Los Angeles and have lived in Southern California all of my life,” says Dennis Verner, the responsible broker of SCV Commercial Real Estate. “I relocated to Santa Clarita in 1989 when I was offered a management position with Santa Clarita Disposal.”
Ten years later, and after being instrumental in procuring two City Franchises and starting numerous recycling programs such as the City’s co-mingled program and green waste programs, still in use today, Santa Clarita Disposal was sold. In 1999 Verner began working on various projects within the valley such as the Gates King/Needham Ranch Industrial Park, Quality Paper Recycling Center and Burrtec Waste Industries’ Commercial City Franchise.
In 2001 Verner began working as a commercial real estate agent under a local realtor. By 2004 he had obtained his broker’s license and in 2006 started SCV Commercial Real Estate Services. SCV Commercial is a full service brokerage firm handling many aspects of commercial real estate such as sales, leasing and property management. SCV Commercial focuses primarily on the Santa Clarita Valley.
“Our goal is to make it simple for our clients to make informed decisions about their real estate needs by providing our knowledge of the SCV market and area expertise,” Verner explains. “Whether your business is currently located in Santa Clarita or you are looking to re-locate your business here, it is important to choose a company with local knowledge, history and connections with the community.”
In 2007 Verner purchased one of his business listings himself, a sign company called Sign A Rama and re-sold it in 2009. Some additional notable sales have been both corners of Sierra Highway and Newhall Avenue (formerly San Fernando Road) of which the 10 acres of the southeast corner will be the future home of Sierra Crossing, 99,000 square feet of retail and a hotel; 75 acres off the 14 Freeway was sold to JSB Development where the impressive Vista Canyon development will host a town center, a corporate campus, a Metrolink Station, and a trail system for Canyon Country; the land across from Route 66 where the Canyon Carwash was built; 68 acres was sold to Burrtec Waste on Sierra Highway for the City of Santa Clarita Recycling Center which now might become a business park; two acres were sold to the Fellowship Church where hopefully construction will start soon. When not selling land, SCV Commercial, with the help of agent Jeff Lui, sells and leases industrial, retail, office and medical space. Verner and his team also manage commercial properties in the SCV.
Verner supports local businesses and has been active in community activities and decision making during his tenure in the Santa Clarita Valley. He is often seen at any of a number of local events that take place in our community weekly. His latest venture was being a participant in the Michael Hoefflin Foundation for Children’s Cancer’s golf tournament. He is a board member of Newhall Redevelopment Committee (NRC), a member of the Santa Clarita Valley-Chamber of Commerce, and a member of Valley Industrial Association (VIA). He has recently been selected as the Chairman of the Board of the Old Town Newhall Association (OTNA) and is the Chairperson of the Michael Hoefflin Foundation Solicitation Committee for the upcoming September gala. He also contributes to the Santa Clartia Valley Business Journal’s commercial real estate section.
Verner’s goal for the future is to continue to work in and around the community to assist in promoting a better Santa Clarita Valley for all residents and visitors.” I pride myself in offering trustworthy service when working with clients who are buying a local business, need property management or purchasing a parcel of land, “All these services add to the future growth and high standards of the Santa Clarita Valley.”
